THE STUDY OF THE DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF NAFION-117 THIN FILM

Alanazi, Tarek Ibrahim

Abstract Details

2016, Master of Science, University of Akron, Physics.
This study investigates the dielectric properties of a Nafion-117 membrane using a mixed method research approach. Historical data analyzing the dielectric properties of insulating materials is presented as a fundamental building block upon which our research methodology is built and is followed by an understanding of Nafion-117 and its morphology. Further exploration of Nafion and its dielectric relaxation properties builds to an exploration of the properties of dielectric materials and the evaluation of Nafion, bridging into the in-depth research of its appropriateness as a dielectric material through testing and evaluating the temperature and frequency dependence of the dielectric constant, dielectric loss, AC conductivity, conduction mechanism, and impedance spectrum.
