Abstract Details

Future Path Medical Holding Company, LLC is a medical device start-up company that has developed a breakthrough product called UroSense™. The device is a sensor-integrated urine drainage bottle that automates urine output and core body temperature (CBT) data in catheterized patients. These two vital signs are currently being measured by manual, time-intensive and inaccurate methods and are important indicators to facilitate early treatment and diagnosis. UroSense™ is an advanced urological system that is also equipped with programmable alarms that trigger when the urine bottle is full thus serving as a warning system to caregivers. Future Path Medical has targeted the hospital intensive care unit (ICU) market as its early adopters focusing on catheterized patients. The company has secured two patents for its device and has received class II 510K approval from the FDA. Future Path Medical is currently in its pre-production stage of the device and intends to launch the product in the market in 2013.
