Abstract Details

, Master of Sciences, Case Western Reserve University, EMC - Mechanical Engineering.
A transient method for estimating heat transfer about an LED lamp has been developed to estimate the LED pad temperature and has been validated with an experiment. The simulation applies the user defined power and ambient temperature to the predefined system networking the conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer based on LED lamp geometry and material. The simulation calculates the LED pad temperature and how it changes with time and space. The maximum error of the model when compared to the experimental data is 0.69%. This simulation allows for more time effective design iterations than CFD and more time and cost effective design iterations than building and testing experimental prototypes.
