Abstract
ParkApps is a location based web system which is to give visitors access to real-time information as they explore various geologic or landscapes. In this project, mobile application use GPS recording anonymously user data and send to web system in real-time. System to process the coordinate data and archive the location based educational functions. Scientist and park rangers can contribute geo related information at specific position and publish them to visitors. In this thesis it will introduce the solution and the optimization when to design and implement the location based education web system. In this research project, we design role management model to control user authority, users use different functions in their specific permissions. Maps in the system dynamically show location based points by using multilevel structure data from database. GeoJSON files which is a widely-used data format for displaying vectors in the web maps, can solve sluggish loading data. To improve map response time, we implement a better-choice algorithm. It depends on different conditions to select the best way to load geo-data on the map. While data have no update, it reads the static GeoJSON files directly. When data need to update, it uses join query method and set PHP’s function to export data into a dynamic file, then use JavaScript to reading it. We test the performance by using this algorithm and compare with load data directly query from the database, it shows that using algorithm can achieve good loading speed which is import for the system to show points on the map. We further design and implement battery saving algorithm on mobile application to improve the battery life. At last we design adventure track model to process six kinds of questions which display on the mobile application and implement data collections algorithm to collect users’ answers information for education research.
