This paper attempts to uncover and analyze certain parallels found between Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution and Japan's post-war economic recovery. It is argued that due in part to Article 9 Japan had received a number of favorable trade agreements from the United States shortly after WWII. This paper attempts to illustrate the reasoning behind both nations in forging the agreements, and aims at demonstrating how both nations have benefited from the agreements and their post-war relationship.
