Film as a Historical Text: Exploring the Relationship between Film and History through the Life and Reign of Elizabeth I

Brittany, Rogers Renee

Abstract Details

2008, Bachelor of Arts, Marietta College, History, Philosophy, Political Science and Religion.
This thesis explores the relationship between history and film, using five films about Queen Elizabeth I. The main themes of Elizabeth's life and reign are determined through a historiography. Then the films are analyzed to determine if they deal with the same themes, either accurately or inaccurately. Then the use of film as a history is determined, and whether its use is as a supplement or complement.
