Abstract Details

Much past exploration has been done for a two-level atom-cavity QED system. The 85Rb atom is a commonly used atom for cavity QED experiments. We use quantum trajectory theory to explore a three-level Λ model and a sixteen level model of the hyperfine structure of a 85Rb atom between the 52 S1/2 and 52 P1/2 levels in a two-mode driven, damped optical cavity. We analytically derive the steady state of the three-level model and the second order intensity correlations at the steady state. Then we use quantum Monte Carlo simulations with quantum trajectory theory to find other properties and the intensity correlations as a function of delay time for both models. We hold the models in comparison with each other and the established two-level model. We also explore nonclassical behaviors demonstrated by the intensity correlations.
