Abstract
This thesis includes a critical introduction focusing on the way female speakers use their sexual experiences and relationships in their individual constructions of self and discusses the variance in autonomy and dependence in the constructed self. I compare my poetry to the work of Sharon Olds and Kim Addonizio. Original poems follow.
