Dress: A Novel in Progress

Abstract Details

2019, Master of Arts (MA), Ohio University, English (Arts and Sciences).
A young woman named Leanne purchases a “little black dress” from a consignment store. But this dress has a catch: when she puts it on, she is transported into the body of the dress’s previous owner, and experiences a memory of theirs, completely robbed of agency, yet also free of risk and consequence. She uses this body-swapping dress as an escape from her personal life, from the ghosts of her past—until her personal life begins to intersect with this whimsical exploration in mind-warping ways.
