Circuit Topology Study of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System

Abstract Details

2011, Master of Science, Ohio State University, Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Many different circuit topologies have been suggested for large scale photovoltaic systems. The cost and the efficiency are still the major issues of large scale photovoltaic systems. This thesis proposes a simple cost effective three-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system with two PV arrays, one DC/DC converter, one inverter, and a control strategy to achieve a distributed maximum power point (DMPP) for both PV arrays. The control strategy consists of one inner current-control loop and one outer voltage-control loop to achieve distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT). The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is evaluated through real time simulations.
