The Relationship Between Teacher Efficacy and Classroom Implementation of Consistency Management

Erickson, Jennifer Miller

Abstract Details

2001, Master of Arts, Ohio State University, EDU Teaching and Learning.
The discipline of urban students today is a concern because it affects the level of success that the students experience in the classroom. Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline® is a framework that seeks to provide all members of the school environment strategies to successfully decrease the amount of discipline problems. However, varying levels of teacher efficacy can affect the intended implementation and outcome of this program. Teachers from three urban elementary schools were surveyed and observed to establish the levels of successful implementation of CMCD® and the level of teacher efficacy. The results from these instruments determined a correlation that establishes that higher teacher efficacy is relative to higher implementation of Consistency Management®. Therefore, teacher efficacy is an important factor to consider when training teachers in new methods and programs.
