A thesis presented on the manner and cause of the wartime death of Staff Sergeant Stephen Toth and the members of his crew August 19th 1943, in the skies of occupied Holland. The aim of the thesis is to reconstruct, and investigate from secondary sources and primary records: the deaths of an American aircrew, the manner and treatment of the survivors held captive as POWs in war time Germany, and the cause and manner of the return of the dead, and the repatriation of the living.
