Abstract Details

2010, Master of Science in Engineering, University of Toledo, College of Engineering.
This thesis focuses on the development of a Filtering engine model for VIMNet. VIMNet is a dynamic protocol framework, which is highly adaptable to the constantly changing requirements and functionalities of future network applications. The Dynamic protocol framework is an object‐oriented communication environment that provides the ability for each application to generate a customized communication protocol. It can be used in the same way a network protocol stack is used in TCP/IP, but which is much more flexible, highly adaptable, and less constrained. A model of the Filtering Engine is developed which is suitable for VIMNet. Since the protocol modules are application specific and not known a priori, the Filtering Engine in case of VIMNet needs to take care of this design constraint.
