Directional Influence of Acculturation and Language Proficiency

Escondo, Timothy Francis, Escondo

Abstract Details

2018, Master of Arts, University of Toledo, English (as a Second Language).
This study aimed to find directional influence of acculturation and language proficiency. Self-reported questionnaires and audio comprehension tests were given to five participants taking part in a four week study tour of Japan before and after the tour. Match-paired t-tests were conducted on the results of audio language comprehension and acculturation levels before and after the trip and found that no significant change had taken place. The data shows that there is not any significant change in language ability nor acculturation levels from a four week culture based study tour.
