Abstract
Communication technology plays a vital role in every industry. Today, the world is becoming a global village for data transfers, connectivity and ever evolving modes of communications at the core of it. Finding cheaper, reliable and faster modes for transfer and reception of antennas seems to be the driving force in the field of antenna design and communication. Materials that display properties different from natural materials, are exciting elements to work with in Antenna design, given their unique property of backward-wave propagation. The opportunity to utilize Left Handed Materials in the design of a Zeroth Order Resonator (ZOR) Antenna design provides an effective alternative to the conventional modes of signal transfers. ZOR antennas have the property that their resonant frequency is independent of the physical length of the resonator, which allows the ability to produce small compact antennas. The need to develop new, more efficient antenna arrays has greatly increased. This thesis tests to find an optimum Composite Right/Left Handed Microstrip Transmission Line ZOR Antenna array configurations which would enhance their radiation patterns, and analyze the effects of Mutual Coupling in similar CRLH ZOR Antenna arrays when they are placed at fixed distances near each other. The study utilizes Four-Cell CRLH Antennas. The results of Mutual Coupling between adjacent antennas from this thesis can be used to develop new array configurations, especially for narrow band frequency applications.
