SEME Design Methodology For Nostalgic Design

Abstract Details

2018, MDES, University of Cincinnati, Design, Architecture, Art and Planning: Design.
Utilizing my multicultural background associated with Japan, China and Switzerland and my professional design education in the United State, SEME (Sensation, Emotion, Memory, Evidence) was developed as a design theory to interpret nostalgic needs and personal experiences and translate them into physical and philosophical quality within the product being designed. Three SEME based projects were conducted among automotive enthusiasts to explore the effectiveness of SEME design theory. The results proved the capability of SEME to bring significant enrichments in design quality and satisfaction in user experience.
